The RocLite 315 is Inov-8’s all-around trail model, designed to handle technical terrain but stay comfortable enough for long days on the trail and ultramarathons. It has impressive ground-feel and aggressive tread, but the uppers and midsole are stiff and inflexible. The result is a shoe that feels clunky and unwieldy instead of agile and fast.
The tongue is very good and doesn't get pulled into the shoe. Also, the material in the heel/achilles section is very nice and doesn't seem to create friction causing blistering. The cushioning under the heel is good and provides a lot of shock absorption. This is a great trail running shoe.
The inov-8 Rocfly G 390 boots feel very comfortable from the moment you slip your feet inside. They offer a roomy forefoot, which is good if you’re going to be hiking long distances or on a warm day because this allows for a bit of natural foot swell. However, if you have a very narrow foot, the width ‘5’ might be too wide for you.
If you're into doing heavy gym work outs, crossfit, trail runs or climbing, you'll enjoy your Inov-8's. I bought the Bare-XF 210, Rocklite 295 and Fast 250. They replaced my Merrell's and New Balance Minimus. I'm hooked. I tested my Rocklite 295 on a trail around a reservoir; steep cement and dirt face with an all gravel surface.
Inov-8 Mudroc 290. This shoe comes in the category of 'fell shoe' really, which I realise is not so familiar to people from the US. Fells are rough, often muddy UK hills; fell runners are often not on well groomed paths, and although the hills are small, the inclines are steep and the weather can be shocking! These shoes are a lightweight model I am after a pair for cross country races. My road shoes are asics but was wondering what the inov 8 `s are like. Are they small like adidas etc. also what model would you think suitable for cross country. I was thinking the mudroc 290. Thanks for any info. Steve. Unlike Mudclaws, the inov-8 Roclite 290 do not need breaking in. I can safely go out and run 20 miles in these brand new out of the box. This isn’t just because I have owned 4 pairs and may feet are used to them, they have been the same since my very first pair. I wore them out for a long run straight out of the box and loved them.
